Newport 2013

Saw the home I lived in until I was 10.  Weird to see it.

Killing time at the airport.  I think we had around 3 to 4 hours to spend.  We found a corner where music was playing so we had a little dance party.
Kids loved taking pictures with my camera.  And running up and down that ramp Eric is on.  And we let them squeal and run because they were happy.

This is after our flight.  Flight went well.  So glad Eric was there because Ty was so wiggly.  We took about 15 minute shifts and kept passing him back and forth.  Janie Janie bo Banie was coloring next to Eric.  Next thing he knew she had colored marker all over her hands.  Isn't she old enough not to do that?  It took a couple of days to come off.

Pleasanton

It is always nice to go home.  After getting caught up on some sleep--we enjoyed spending time at the park every day.  We went for walks, had ice cream at the Dairy twice, and attempted to go swimming in our pool but I am a wimp and it was too cold.

Jen and Michelle from Sunnyvale came to visit.  We went to the park and sat and visited while the kids played.  Ty was napping and Janie had a stomach bug so they both stayed home with my mom.  It was so nice to be able to just talk and not have to chase them around.  Love my kids--but that was just nice.

My Aunt Sally and cousin Bonnie came to visit for part of the week.  Bonnie celebrated her 20th birthday in San Francisco.  It was great to see them since I haven't in years.  My kids loved playing with Bonnie.  The morning after they arrived Janie asked me "When is Obama going to wake up?"  Bonnie got a new nickname.

My kids love Missy.  Ty loved her so much that he learned a new word and can now say dog.  I wanted to take a picture of them with Missy and this is what I got.  I don't remember what upset Janie.  Most things do upset her lately.  Sometimes I feel like I'm walking on eggshells trying to keep her happy.

Look at her face!  Imagine a growl with it because thats what she does when she is really mad.  Glad I captured it.

Ty loved the stairs!  He learned how to climb down them.  He would go down the top step head first and then kick his legs around and then go down the normal way.

Trip to the mall.

Eric joined us lateThursday night.
The Maginots came to visit one night and we went to a park to visit while the kids played.  It had been 4 years since our husbands had seen each other.  The Bergs also came to visit (but we didn't take any pictures!).  We also went to a park and later had a game night like the good old days.  I love these friends and grateful that they drove in bad traffic to see us.

Like I said, always good to go home.  But here were some of the not so fun parts.

-  I thought Blake threw up on the airplane because of all the treats he ate.  But two days later he threw up again.
-  Janie caught the bug but instead had to go potty every 5 minutes for three days.  I was so tired of wiping that bum!
-  Then Bonnie got sick.
-  Then my mom got sick.  I felt so bad that we brought this disease to share with everyone.
-  My mom and I took the kids to eat dinner at Red Robin.  I thought Janie was starting to feel better but she still had to go potty all the time.  My mom and I took turns taking her.  I was trying to get everyone their food.  Somehow a full yogurt spilled all over the floor.  Then Ty stuck his hand down his throat and gagged himself and threw up all over the place.  It was too much!  A trip to remember.

Flight to CA

I flew with my kids two weeks ago to Pleasanton.  Eric joined us a week later.  Here is how it went.  After packing all day, Eric drove us (2 hours) to the airport.  The flight was scheduled to leave at 8:00 Chicago time.  We got to the gate and a plane did not arrive until 9:00.  We boarded and lucky enough got 2 full rows to ourselves.  I guess nobody wanted to sit by three kids.  I love that.

We sat for awhile and then started to move.  Then kept waiting and waiting.  I guess there was bad weather so the pilot said we were waiting to be re-routed.  And I guess all the other planes were too.  After sitting for over an hour we had to go back to the gate to get more fuel.  Then there was lightening so we had to wait to get gas.  Waited some more.  Then more lightening so had to wait to leave again because no one could be on the ramp to get us out.  The bottom line is we sat on the plane for almost 3 hours!  With the initialy hour delay, we had basically sat for the full length of the flight without even leaving.

Blake and Ty fell asleep as we took off.

I was so grateful for the extra space so I could bring Ty's car seat on.

The kids slept most of the four hour flight.  One flight attendant was so helpful.  She brought us snacks, drinks, water, helped hold Ty.  There was a nice man who grabbed paper towels for us when Blake spilled his drink.  I love kind people.

Then we landed and I was trying to grab all our stuff while holding Ty.  Blake told me he didn't feel good.  I told him we would go to the bathroom after we got off the plane.  Then he said he felt like he was going to throw up.  I tried to grab the little white bag but wasn't in time.  Throw up everywhere.  A man behind me was trying to grab his bag but we had it ready once Blake was done.  It was bad.  All in the middle aisle for everyone to walk over.  I felt so bad for everyone around us and gave a big sorry to the crowd.  Napkins and paper towels were passed from all directions.  I just piled them up on the floor and we left.  Nothing I could do about it.

It was still so fun to run up to Grandpa after we got off the airplane.  By the time we were in bed it was 7am Michigan time.
