Ty - 16 Months

 

 

I was trying to get a good belly shot of Ty.  Sometimes it looks so huge compared to his body.  When I pulled the camera out he held still and started blinking his eyes and made a funny smile.  Like he knows that he needs to pose.  Then he ran over to the wall where I made him stand while I took his batman picture the other night.  He just stood there (first pic) and then touched the wall like he was saying 'this is where I stand for pictures mom.'

Ty is starting to say more words but on the whole he is very quiet.  He doesn't babble much and just randomly will say a word and thats it for awhile.  He won't perform for others and makes his scrunched nose shy face and leans into me if I ask him to say something.  Here are some words that he says or attempts to say on a random basis:  apple, help, more, ball, bath, dada, mama, Jesus, cheese, teeth, wawa (water), pear, dog.  He can do a lot of animal sounds.  And will raise 1 finger when asked how old he is.

He plays so nicely around the house.  As long as Blake or Janie is near him he is fine just grabbing toys and wandering around moving things.  If he ever finds something small he will bring it to show  me with his two little fingers.  He likes reading books more and will grab one and make room on my lap when I'm in the middle of doing something.  Ty goes down for naps or bed so easily.  He just needs his binky and blanket.  I tickle him and he laughs and that is it. 

He started trying to jump last week because Blake and Janie were.  He tried to get up but then would plop hard on his bum.  He did it over and over again because we were all laughing.  He can get hyper and crazy, especially at night.  Like tonight, he was running around laughing and squealing while running into the couch.

Ty is a dream and I seriously love every minute with him.

Trunk or Treat

I made a craft!  And all by myself which is weird because I'm not craftsy and hardly ever have the desire to be.  But I bought a wreath and spray painted it black and came to find that spray paint is really fun to use.  Janie and Blake strategically placed the spiders.  I do want to start accumulating decorations for holidays because the kids love it.

 

Remember that blue puffy jumpsuit I got for $1 (still proud of that) that Blake used when he was a baby?  The tag says it is for a 3 to 6 months old baby.  Anyways, it was going to be cold at the trunk or treat activity so I asked Eric to see if it would fit him.  And it did which turned batman into buff batman.  It was so funny to watch him waddle around.  He didn't seem to mind all the puff.  He was trying to pick a pretzel up off the kitchen floor.  All the padding was too much and he slowly fell on his forehead as he was reaching for it.  It was funny to watch.

 

Batgirl Janie.  She was so so excited for this activity.  She had been asking about it all month, week, day, and for two hours before it started she was asking every 2 minutes.   

 

Blake was "Buzz Lightning."  (Mix of Buzz and Lightning McQueen).  Thanks to Keri for the costume.  It was perfect!  He flew around to infinity and beyond and was all smiles.

 

Ty does not like it when the kids touch him.  They do it so often that it just bugs him.

 

Ty had a piece of bread in one hand and candy in the other.  He was slow to move from car to car and often held up the groups or got lost in the mix.  But he was slow and steady and got a good haul. 

 

 

 

There is a bounce house in the back that was a big hit.

 

Up to no Good

On Friday I was busy in the kitchen and it got really quiet in Janie's room.  I went to check on them and found this.  I kept coming back to see how their play was evolving.  Janie takes good care of Ty while they play.  They were happy and laughing for at least an hour.

This Weekend

Eric listening to a Cardinals game and holding the antenna so it isn't fuzzy.  He is pretty excited about them going to the world series again.  He is serious in wanting to drive down next weekend and go to a game.  He said he looked up the cost of a ticket and it is about $400.  I'm glad he thinks that is too much money.

A friend gave us this tux as a hand me down so he wore it to church today.  And yes he sits in a girl colored carseat.

 

He makes this scrunched up nose face a lot.  He does when the camera comes out or when he gets shy in front of other people.

 

 On our drive home from church we pass farms and fields.  Fields of corn, apple orchards, grapes, sunflowers...  It is actually a really pretty drive.  Anyways, today on our way home Blake told me that when he grows up he isn't going to work like dad does in a building--but he is going to be a farmer.  I asked him if he would grow some fruits and vegetables for me.  He asked "Well are you going to live in Michigan?  Because that is where I'm going to be a farmer.  If you live in Michigan, I will share my food with you."

 

 

Janie has been saying some funny things lately.  In preschool she has been learning about seasons and how it is fall.  I think that she knows it correct now, but for a few weeks if you asked her what the season was, she would say "fart."  (She can't say the r sound.)

She likes me to spin her in the air and will ask me "Mom, will you diz me around?"

Her counting is fun to listen to.  She gets to 20 and then jumps all around.  When she makes it to the 50s she calls it five-ty one, five-ty two... I asked her how old she thought I was and she counted ...27, 28, 29, 90!

She loves her nusery leader Melanie (and her husbands name is J.C.).  She came home from church today with a picture of a hand drawn princess.  I asked her who drew it and she said "JCPenney."

Lately

Ty enjoys this chair lately and will sit to watch about a minute of a show.  And then he is off.

 

I got to go with Blake on his first field trip!  All of the kindergarteners got to go to Stovers Farm to pick an apple and a pumpkin, go on a hay ride, and try apple cider.  He loved it all--especially the bus ride.

Conference Weekend

We brought 3 bushels of Michigan apples up to Keri's house to make applesauce.  That is around 120 pounds of apples!  They make applesauce every year and it was fun to see the process.  When I worked on the first couple of batches for some reason I mostly cranked out apple juice... so I let Eric take over in the kitchen.

Brian and Blake raked the whole front yard.  They wouldn't jump in it until they had finished.  I guess they never officially finished and never jumped in.  They were sad when the leaves were all bagged up the next morning.  It had rained that night anyways.

Janie would ask any cousin to play dolls, barbies, kitchen, crafts, jump on trampoline with her and they all would.  What a lucky little girl.  These cousins are so sweet.

 

Abbie especially loved Ty.  She was so cute with him and always telling me how much she loved his spiked hair.

Missy

I have been meaning to write a little something for my Missy dog on my blog.  About a month ago my parents had to put Missy down.  She was 13 years old and not functioning right.  It is sad to imagine going home and not seeing her.  It was always so fun to go visit and watch my kids either be deathly afraid or extremely excited because of her.

I remember when we got her.  I was in high school and was a little surprised when my parents said we were going to get a dog.  My dad drove me and my sisters a couple hours away to pick her up.  She was the tiniest little thing.  Kind of guinea pig size and I held her in one hand.  I remember holding her with my hand against my shirt on the drive home.  She peed on me and it was such a small amount because she was so tiny.  Although gross, I remember thinking 'that is the cutest little amount of pee I've ever seen.'  She was adorable. 

I loved taking her for walks to the park and throwing the frisbee and watching her bounce through the grass running after it.  I will admit that in general I am not a dog person, but I would take another Missy.
