Last Day of Preschool

I can't believe this school year came and went.  Blake has loved preschool and he is sad that it is over.  He asked if his teachers can teach him next year.

Blake wakes up earlier than everyone in our house every morning.  He goes to the kitchen table where I leave a bin of crayons, scissors, and a bunch of paper.  As a way to say goodbye to his classmates he made a duck for each boy and a rainbow each girl.  I found several rainbows in the trash can though.  They all looked the same to me but he said that he had messed up when writing his name.  He said the K on the rainbow below was wrong and tossed it.  Poor kid is hard on himself.  That is a good looking rainbow!

Here are his drawings of his teachers.  Cute.

He was always so excited for school and would run up this hill.

Love him!

Always Fun When Grandma Comes

We had a great time at the beach.  The weather was perfect and it was beautiful.

 Ty ate sand

Blake digs a big whole each visit

Ty makes this face all the time to everyone.

Party at the Park activity.  This was our third year going.

This is what happened when I asked Blake and his buddy Gavin to pose for a picture.  They had so much fun running wild together around the park.

Blake and Janie associate carousel rides with grandparents.  We always have to do it when they are in town.

Headed downtown to Kilwins ice cream afterwards.  It was a pretty jam packed 4 days of fun.  Janie cried and cried when Grandmarita left.

Chicago Zoo

Eric is going golfing for three days with some friends so Marita called and asked if she should come visit.  The answer was YES.  She took the train from St. Louis to Chicago.  We picked her up and then headed for the zoo.  Blake and Janie don't remember ever going and it was so fun to watch them get excited for each animal.  Blake wanted us to read all of the information on the plaques.  He loves to learn.  And there are some crazy weird looking animals out there.

This is kind of hard to see but it is a black bear sitting in a log eating a huge bone with meat on it.  It looks like a big chunk of leg that was just ripped off another animal and fed to this bear.  He was using his claws to pull the red meat off.  It was so disgusting yet fascinating at the same time.

Then we headed home and grabbed some Garrett's popcorn on the way.  Cheese and caramel combo.  And we got a ton of it.

Anxious Blake

Preface:  Blake attends a Lutheran preschool where he has "Jesus Time" each day.  I think that this has been a positive because Blake has really learned many stories about Jesus.  Every once in awhile I will hear some funny phrasing or rote sentences that I know he heard at school about religion.

Blake was so anxious for Eric to get home from work today.  He was pacing the house not quite sure of what to do with himself.  Eric was going to mow the lawn and Blake wanted to go play outisde and hopefully have his neighbor buddy play with him.  He loves this friend Jacob and always wants to play with him.  I heard the garage open and Blake was right at the door and gave a loud sigh of relief and started singing a song to himself that I guess he had learned at preschool "Praise the Lord!...."

It was hilarious.

Beach Day!

We went to the park on the beach today.  We were there for almost 5 hours.  Five.  That is close to a full nights sleep.  That is a record for us and we loved every minute.  Kids were great and had fun with their friends.

Ty - 10 Months

-  4 teeth, can see 3 more coming
-  cruising more
-  loves to be outside, and swinging at the park
-  can stick out his tongue on command
-  either cries or gives shy smiles to strangers
-  babbles but not tons
-  it gets tricky when I'm trying to make dinner.  He screams pretty loud because he wants to be fed or held.  Basically he doesn't want to be stuck in the exersaucer or high chair.
-  at night when I rock him to bed I tickle his tummy or neck and he laughs and laughs
-  starting to use a sippy cup

New Bike

Here is how our Saturday went.  I woke up at 6am to run with some friends.  (I am going to run a half marathon on June 1st.)  I ran about 8 miles today.

After I got home I took Blake and Janie to look for a new bike for Blake.  He has out grown his and Janie is excited to have his old one.  We found one at Target--on sale no less.  Blake was thrilled.  He is eager to take the training wheels off.  He wanted to make sure that he didn't get a bike with girl colors on it.  Orange, yellow, or red were his preference.

We came home and I crashed.  I slept a couple of hours.  Then we all went out to eat at a new restaurant in town called Rios.  Pretty good.  Then we took the kids to the elementary school park (Where Blake will be going to kindergarten in the fall!).

Adult session stake conference was tonight so kids played at friends (Thanks Lindsey!) and we went to the church.

After kids were in bed I grabbed us some Culver's ice cream.  Eric's favorite.  Concrete mixer with reeses peanut butter cups.
