Cousins

We went to visit Keri and her family for part of Labor Day weekend.  It was so fun!  These cute cousins are so good to our kids.  They played nonstop.  We tried their favorite BoSa doughnuts-- maple with bacon was so good.  Everyone played a rousing game of soccer in the backyard.  There was an attempt to watch Jonathan in the marching band at the high school football game but it was cancelled due to weather.  Boys went to the driving range.  Keri and I went for our walk.  I did the girls hair to match each other.  Always a good time with family.

Trip to St. Louis

The kids have been begging to visit Grandma and Grandpa in St. Louis so the kids could go swimming.  It has been such a mild summer but the weather heated up for our trip.  It was humid and in the 90's.  The hottest we have felt all summer.

 

The kids swam each day, went to Grant's farm with Marita and Newel, ate treats, watched movies, played games (dominoes) and with toys.  I hung out with Chet and slept when he did.  Eric worked, went to the temple, swam, and slept in.  Always fun!

 

 

South Bend Silver Hawks

Over the years Eric has volunteered for a program through work called Junior Achievement.  He goes into various aged classes (elementary through high school) once a week for six week sessions and teaches the class lessons about business.  He did this when he worked in California and has continued here in Michigan.  He loves doing it.  Yesterday they had a Junior Achievement apprection day at a minor league baseball game in South Bend, Indiana.  It was so fun!  The kids each got a free hat.  Eric got a free lemonade and cracker jacks.  The kids had way to many treats.

 

Our seats were behind first base.  At the beginning of the game a lady about 7 rows in front of us got hit with a foul ball.  It was scary!  She was fine and got some free merchandise out of the ordeal.  But it made me nervous sitting there and I felt like I had to watch each hitter to protect our family from getting whacked.

 

Blake was very into the baseball game.  It made me excited to have these three boys.  On the way to the game Blake said that we would get crackers with peanut butter.  I think he was pleasantly surprised to find out what cracker jacks really were. 

 

Janie was fascinated with their live bird mascot that danced around the stadium while visiting fans.  I wish I could have the dialogue written for all that she said/asked involving this bird.  She could not stop thinking about it.  She found it amazing that there was a person inside the bird and that the bird "didn't just fly there."  She asked if the parrot costume was "made out of paper that was colored on."  Paper?  I thought that was an odd question.  I told her that it was the persons job to wear that costume.  She asked if she could do it when she was older.  Then she asked if there could be two bird costumes--one for the bird that was already there and one for her.  She asked that when she is older and dresses up as the bird if she can come home with me after.  (I think she wondered if the person/bird sleeps at the stadium.) 

 

The hawk mascot scared Ty.  He woke up this morning saying "Baseball game.  Bird scared me."  Eric bought cotton candy.  It was an orange/yellowish color.  Ty kept asking for more cheese.  Chet did great at his first baseball game!

 

 

 

 

 

Power in Motion

I took the kids to a open gym at a gymnastics facility on Saturday.  We had been once before and they have been begging to go again.  Plus their favorite babysitter named Audrey works there.  I had a little too much fun taking action shots.

 The last time we got a car wash--Ty's face was hilarious everytime the washer came near his window.  It would startle him and Eric and I laughed so hard.

 

One day this week we were all bored.  We needed to get out but I didn't feel like going anywhere big.  So our outing for the day was to go through the drive through car wash.  Wahoo.  I brought my camera to see if Ty would make his funny face.  He was a little more composed this time but still didn't like it.

 

Here are some other highlights from the week:

 

Ty spilled water all over himself during lunch one day.  I took his clothes off and his diaper because it was soaked.  We walked to his room to grab a diaper and clothes.  Before I could get his diaper on he started peeing near his book shelf.  I was afraid this would happen so I had been watching him and saw that he was starting to go.  I ran over and put my cupped hands underneath and caught almost all of his pee while frantically saying "Ty!  Stop peeing!" 

 

I did it.  I took all four kids to go grocery shopping.  It was a little crazy but overall was fine.  I didn't go needing to get much.  When we were in the check out line a lady in front of us said she had noticed us earlier in the store and was impressed with how good my kids were.  She gave each of them a penny so they could ride the horse at the front of the store.  That was nice.

Crazy Kids

Ty was hyper one night and was doing a funny dance.  We were all laughing.  Whenever Eric and I think something Ty does is funny--the other two quickly join because they want to be funny too.
