On Thursday we heard that our school was shutting down because of COVID. We already had plans to go to Palmyra to see the church sites the following day. We were unsure if everything would still be open, but went ahead with our plans. The Ludlow's and Guthrie's came too. We stopped for some BBQ wings on the way. On Friday we did a tour of the Smith Farmhouse, walked through the Sacred Grove, and Eric and I took turns going to the temple.
On Saturday morning, Eric and Blake went to the temple and did baptisms. This was Blake's first time! The kids enjoyed breakfast at the hotel with friends. We went to the Hill Cumorah visitors center and then climbed the Hill. We finished with a tour of the Book of Mormon Printing Press. The reason we went to visit these church sites because of President Nelson's invitation to study the restoration of the gospel in preparation for April Conference. He promised that if we were prepared, conference would be unforgettable.
The Saturday we were there ended up being the last Saturday where they did tours because of the Pandemic. Everything shut down after for COVID. That was the last day temples were open for a long time. We made it just in time and were so grateful! Originally we were supposed to go the following weekend our friends said this weekend would work better. So glad we switched!
