Snow Days

After Christmas break Blake went back to school on Monday and Tuesday.  The rest of the week was cancelled because the temperature was so low.  Eric went to visit his brother Kurt in Nevada from Thursday to Monday (my Christmas present to him).  Due to bad weather, his flight was delayed which made him miss his connecting flight.  He spent the night at the Las Vegas airport and arrived in Reno early Friday morning.  He had a great time and I'm glad he got to spend time with Kurt and his family.  They chose to get together that weekend so they could watch four football games together.  Boy heaven.

The kids and I didn't leave the house for four days straight.  At first we didn't want to leave.  Then Blake and I tried shoveling the driveway on day three but the snow kept coming down that there was no point.  On Saturday a friend came over with a four wheeler and plowed it for us.  It was a long week but at times surprisingly fun.  We rationed our milk.  We got creative and had a few dance parties.  We did have friends over so I guess that helped us feel connected to the outside world.  Gotta love Michigan!

Sweet Thing

Janie continues to love to bake and she even got her own Betty Crocker junior cookbook for Christmas.  We made a double batch of chocolate chip cookies to cope with the freezing winter weather.  When she was eating the dough her face seemed to look older to me.  I took a bunch of pictures of course.  She will be five next month.  Love my cooking pal.

Playing Restaurant

Perfect activity for Blake and Janie--playing restaurant.  Janie was in charge of the kitchen, food preparation, and serving.  Blake made the menu, took the orders, and handled the money (with his cash register).  Eric and I dined and made small talk over a "brgr" and "soap."  It was pretty adorable.

Happy New Year!

December Happenings

Janie had a preschool Christmas program. She was pretty cute up there jingling her bells.

Our annual cookie making night.  We realized that we mostly watch while Eric does all the work.

Here is Eric putting together the kids kitchen set the night before Christmas.  He was singing away to the classic rock station on Pandora.  He started at 9p.m. and went to bed at 2a.m!

Here is a bean bag toss Blake made.  We were going to have a kids Christmas party and have a few friends over but Blake woke up that morning with a fever.  Love his creativity.
