Reading

Eric is at a meeting tonight so I put the kids to bed.  Janie was a little hyper and kept getting out of bed.  I kept taking her back and even laid by her for a little and I thought that had done the trick.  I was in the kitchen doing dishes and when I was done I found her like this.  She was sitting outside of Ty's room reading about Spot with Mr. Potato Head glasses on upside down.

I took her back to bed and laid by her.  Her little body was so fidgety (mental note: no more ice cream before bed).  She kept putting her hand across my neck and hugging me.  Then switch to holding my hand.  And then feet up on the wall.  I coughed and then she copied and coughed.  So I pretended to sneeze and she did too.

It is a pleasure to be your mom Janie.

Presidents

Blake is learning at preschool!  He came home today and told me that George Washington was the first president and Abraham Lincoln was the 16th.  He likes to point out how his George has wooden teeth and Abraham's beard is made from a cut out of his hand.  I love how excited he is about school and learning.

Ty Ty

Ty is crawling now.  He skipped any army crawl or worm maneuver and just crawls.  It is cute but I always liked to see some scootage.  Since he can move he doesn't like to be confined any more which makes it tricky for me to get anything done.  He is starting to try and pull himself up to things but isn't quite there yet.  I think he has a special thing for Janie because she can always make him laugh.  If I'm holding him and someone smiles and says hi to him he will put his head down and lean into me like he is shy.

Valentine's Day

I love V-day.  Everything theme oriented is so fun with kids.  We made lemon poppyseed and chocolate chunk muffins and took them over to Eric to share at work.  We also stopped to grab him a Februany subway sandwhich.  Ha.  He was pretty busy at work but it was fun to see him and meet some co-workers.  Then we came home and the kids wanted to have a picnic.

They opened their mailboxes and were thrilled to have a box of conversation hearts.  Pretty easy to please.

Janie is Free!

Janie was so excited for her birthday.  We've been talking about it coming for months now.  I can't believe she is three.  She is such a happy girl and always smiling.  (Except for when she gets hair cuts or opens presents.  See below.)

Blake wanted to take a picture of us.

Janie's first hair cut--or first trim.  I know it is so long but I think the curls will be gone once I cut more.  During the hair cut Janie was expressionless.  She would not smile or answer any of the questions asked.  That's my Janie.  I think she was scared.  And later she told me that she didn't like that thing she had to wear.

Janie (or should I say Blake) picked out her birthday present at the store from Eric's parents.  They chose Squinkies and it has been a hit.

Janie wanted to invite Rorie over to paint nails and play.  They frosted cupcakes and played dollhouse.  Blake had his buddy Gavin over.

Janie (or should I say Blake) decided she wanted to go out for pizza and ride the carousel.  That was the plan until it started snowing like crazy.  And I found out the carousel isn't open the first half of each week.  Eric grabbed pizza on his way home from work.

While we were singing to her

Tried and tried to blow the candles out

No words but a look like 'Mom, now what do I do?  They won't blow out.'

She got a quilt for her big girl bed.  She shares a room with Blake now.  There wasn't a lot of excitement or emotion with anything that she got.  I remember this from last year too.  Kind of similar to her hair cut.  She would finish opening a card or present and immediately ask which one she could open next.  She is funny!

Every time I feed Ty a bottle, Blake and Janie have to squeeze in right next to us.

Love my Janie girl!

Heart Cookies

Janie crying because she "wasn't doing it good!"

Ty does this move all the time.  He gets so frustrated.  I don't know what his game plan is but he keeps getting higher and higher.  He almost tries to walk towards his hands.  And this last week all Ty does is spits.  Like stick your tongue between your lips and make a slobbery spit mess.  I keep telling Blake and Janie it is ok if Ty does it but they can't.
We stayed inside a lot last week.  It snowed so much yesterday--Eric and Blake shoveled twice in one day.  I bet they were out in the snow about 4 hours total.  They shovel and then they play.  At church today Blake kept saying how tired he was.  So much snow.

While the boys were outside, I was playing with Janie and Ty.  Janie grabbed Ty's pretend toy phone.  Here is part of the conversation that I heard:
"Are you having a great day?  Are you??  (Sigh)  Yeah.  We are having a great day.  And we get a cookie after (the boys come inside)."

At church I saw a Blake quote I had written down in one of his coloring books.  I had forgotten that he said this and it made me smile.  He was referring to a special musical number when he said "It brings love to my ears."
