Blake at 20 Months

Help! Blake just learned how to get out of his crib. The other day I went to go get him out of his crib and he greeted me at the door. I looked at Eric and yelled "no!" I liked having him contained in his bed.

He is becoming very independent. He swats our hands away when we try to help him do something like wash his hands.

He continues to make us laugh. Blake loves sirens. The other day he heard one in our apartment (on the 12th floor). He said what sounded like "pa way" and I could not figure out what he was saying. After he repeated it 10 times I gave up. Then he looked at me and said "Can't see it. Pa way!" Far away. Duh mom.

He loves his little sister. He greets her in the morning "Good morning Janie!" When she is sleeping he yells in her face "Hi Janie!" over and over again. He always wants to be next to her in her rainforest mobile but doesn't quite know how to get under delicately and I have to constantly protect her. Over a month ago I gave her a bath and she had spikey hair. I pointed that out to Blake. Even though her hair hasn't been spikey since, at least once a day he pulls a piece of her hair and says "spike."

Blake is scared to get on and off the elevator lately and always asks me to "hold you."
He frequently uses the phrase "Right now!" He had to get that from somewhere...we have to watch what we say. He keeps us on our toes.

Janie

She is almost 6 weeks old! At her 1 month appointment she weighed 9 lb. 9 oz. She smiles now and I can't get enough.

Library

Eric only has one final exam so we came to St. Louis to join cousins during their spring break for a week of fun. Not only is it fun to see everyone but it is nice to have some help with Blake and Janie.

Today I was feeding Janie when Blake woke up from his nap. Eric's sister and mom took him and some cousins to a nearby library. I met up with them a little while later.

Janie was being pretty fussy so I was bouncing her while trying to listen to little nieces read. I was also trying to keep an eye on Blake. He started pulling books off of shelves and dropping them on the floor so I headed towards him so he would stop making a mess. He gave me a good smile and then took off running. One of his cousins chased after him. Then he really thought we were playing a game and he started screaming high pitch as he ran. I was chasing behind with crying Janie. Everyone in the library was watching us. Everyone. I finally got Blake by the arm and he started screaming. (It's not a mad or mean scream, it is a playful one. He recently started doing this and I don't know how to make him stop) He also dropped to the ground so I lost my grip and then he was off again. By this time I see my mother and sister-in-law frantically running toward me like the had been trying to figure out where we were. Don't worry, I finally got him. I knew it was funny while it was happening but I was slightly embarrassed. I think the kicker was what he was wearing. Not quite sure why he was wearing his pajama bottoms and knitted sweater to the library. I like to call them his Shrek pants.

I love my little Shrek.

I found Blake like this yesterday. Talking on the phone and wearing his "hat-ty."

Thanks Mom for the outfit and Kim for the bows!
