Bagels with Barrett

Ty was chosen from his class to get an award for following the schools focus attributes of the month.  Ty's teacher had noticed that he demonstrated confidence, was open minded, and was a risk taker.  He got to go early in the morning to have bagels with the principal (Mr. Barrett).  Blake, Janie, and I got to go too.  Here is what Mrs. Harmon said about Ty:

"Ty is a kindergarten superstar.  He starts each day confidently as he comes in and gets right to work.  He is very helpful to his peers and while he is strong academically he is open-minded to those peers who need assistance and is a great peer helper and model.  Ty's hand is often the first to shoot up to answer a tricky question or to tackle the challenge problems in math.  He is quite the classroom academic risk taker.  I'm so proud of Ty!"

I loved watching Ty go up to get his award and not know how to shake the principals hand.  He just stood there with his signature Ty smile.  Once it was over, Ty was off to class.  I had to yell to him to wait up, because I wanted to walk him there.  He was showing that confidence from his award and didn't need an escort from his mom.  I took him anyways and forced a hug and a goodbye.  We are proud of you Ty!

I had to take these pictures of our neighborhood when I drove home from the elementary school.  I do not love the snow and cold.  But this morning it looked pretty.
