Field Trip to Kilwins

A friend in our preschool group set up a little field trip for these kids at an ice cream shop called Kilwins. Their ice cream is so good--my favorite is Toasted Coconut. They also make and sell candies and fudge. The kids got to see the freezer filled with tubs of ice cream. They got to see how fudge is made. They each got some ice cream and samples of fudge.  Oh man, it smells good in this place.

This store covers all sorts of treats in chocolate (Oreos, Nutter Butters, Rice Krispy Treats...).  Here is a pan of twinkies covered in chocolate.

Mother's Day

Eric was so nice to me on Mother's Day.  The Saturday before I was gone most of the day at work.  When I came home, the kids chores were done, the lawn was mowed, and the garage was clean.  He was grilling chicken with bbq sauce, bacon, and cheese.  They had gone to the store and the kids decorated this lovely cake.  Eric said he wasn't planning on doing that but there were four little girls at the cake decorating station waiting to sell this for $4 and he couldn't say no.

Ty has become a hyper silly kid lately.  Blake and Janie get him going and he runs around screaming and banging into people.  He has been making this funny face lately looking out of the corner of his eyes.

On Sunday morning I could hear Blake was awake.  He came in and set down a pile of cards near my bed that everyone had worked on.  The night before he told me he was going to let me sleep in but wake up dad instead.  So he woke Eric up and they made waffles and eggs.  Our friends the Edingers invited us over for a steak dinner!  Also delicious.  And Kristin knitted this little hat for our baby.  She is so talented and makes one for every new baby in the ward.

Mother's Day is by far the best day of the year.

Lakeshore Roaring Lions

Wish you could hear Janie tell you her team name without being able to say her R's.

She skips around the field or chooses to walk instead of run.  If the ball happens to find her foot she will kick it.  If she is thirsty during her "scrimmage" she will just leave the field and come get a drink.  She looks at me over the field and gives good expessions/thumbs up.  I just sit and smile watching her.

Soccer!

"Let it Go"

A common request these days is to watch youtube video clips of Frozen songs.  Ty has expanded his vocabulary to Frozen words/characters and will walk around the house singing "Yet it go" over and over again.  Janie has learned most of the words and is a lot louder and more confident with her singing.  She often asks for an Elsa braid in her hair.

Easter Egg Hunts

Kids had an egg hunt at Blake's school Saturday morning.  It was packed with kids and there were tons of eggs all around the school playground.  It only lasted about 5 minutes though.  Blake took this seriously and was a man on a mission.

That afternoon we had a picnic and hunt with some friends.  Ty would find an egg and open it and eat it before moving on.  "Handy" is what he kept asking for.  And "emmy-ahs" (m&ms).  He ate a lot of handy this weekend.

We had Sunday dinner with our friends the Parkers and Cramers.  Another egg hunt too.  I think that Ty will think this is something we do everyday now.  We have too much candy at our house.  And the Robins eggs are my absolute favorite.
