There has been a bad winter storm here. I went to the grocery store on Saturday night and it was packed. Busier than Christmas shopping time. Sections of food were totally gone. It kind of scared me--like everyone was panicking. The cashier told me that he heard that this storm was going to be as bad as one in 1978. I asked what it was like then and he said "bad." I don't know why but I thought that was funny. Especially since we was probably ten years younger than me and wasn't alive then.
We went to church on Sunday but the last hour was cancelled because the snow was starting to fall.
No school on Monday. Eric made it to work but got stuck in snow in our subdivision on his way home. He ran home to grab a shovel and when he got back to his car he said a jeep pulled up and three guys jumped out to help. People have been so nice and helpful in our neighborhood. I think it was -7ish degrees outside but the wind chill made it feel like -30ish.
No school today (Tuesday). Our street still wasn't plowed this morning so Eric decided to work from home because he didn't want to get stuck again. Whirlpool recommended that people work from home.
Day One
The kids asked me if they could take a nap so that they could stay up late that night. I heard them yelling to come in and take pictures because they were going to nap together. I knew there was zero chance that they were going to nap. But it kept them busy and giggling for 20 minutes.
Day Two
The kids (Blake) has been very interested in earning money. So on Monday they asked if they could watch Ty for one hour and earn a quarter. They are actually good little babysitters and keep Ty busy. I told them of some chores they could do to earn money. One was to vacuum the basement. Janie's job was to hold the cord for Blake. It was so funny to watch them. Janie just followed Blake back and forth. They did a pretty good job!

Tried making soft pretzels and they turned out great.
Ty has taken almost 4-hour naps the past two days. I think he is growing. He has been eating more than normal.
We had rented The Lorax from the library. Blake and Janie wanted to watch it because according to Janie "there is a part that is propriate." They think that inappropriate words are hilarious. And she always laughs when she tells me that she heard a "propriate" part. She told me when the part was on and the character said something like - 'no ifs ands or buts.' Butts get them every time.
Here is Eric checking the mail. You can't see it very well but he is as tall as our mailbox!
It took Eric 1.5 hours to shovel the driveway today. Blake has been dying to play in the snow. Eric let him today because it was 1 degree. At least it was positive. And tomorrow will be day three of no school. My friend described it as the Christmas break that will never end. I'm not anxious for Blake to go back to school though. We are having fun even though these are long days.
