Grandparents

My parents came to visit for 5 days and we had a great time.  When they arrived our dishwasher was broken and that same day our fridge started acting up.  Our appliances were both broken and in the middle of the kitchen.  Kind of funny that it happened when we had company.  But everything got fixed and Eric even installed the dishwasher himself.  I was impressed because I don't know anything about that kind of stuff.

Eric's parents came on Saturday and left Sunday afternoon.  (Ty's blessing was on Sunday.)  The kids played non stop while everyone was here.  They loved playing with grandparents and the iPad.

Apple picking with grandpa.  Bummer that because of wacky weather this year all the apples were gone--but 3 and we got them.

Pizza, carousel, and ice cream downtown on Saturday night.  I love the carousel--I guess it is because of the lights, music, comfy rocking chairs, wonderful granparents, and kids beaming that everything felt perfect.

Ty - 3 Months

Ty is still the best little baby.  I have no complaints.  He is falling into a routine which is great.  He sleeps from about 7 to 7 but we wake him up around 11 and feed him a bottle.  When awake he is either happy or has his eyebrows furrowed like he is thinking about something.  I started reading books to him and he loves it.  He smiles, coos, kicks, and flaps his arms while looking at the pages.  He likes ceiling fans.  When I'm feeding him a bottle he will spot it and stop drinking and smile.  Sometimes I will put him on the floor in Janie's room with the fan going and he will be content for at least 30 minutes.  Blake got him to laugh the other day and I was laughing with him.  He seems to like taking a bath.  Is starting to smile at himself in the mirror.  Has found his hands and sucks on them.  He wants a little more attention lately--he doesn't want to just be on the floor for very long.  So I put him in the bjorn and he watches me do chores around the house.  Eric and I fight over who gets to take care of him during church.

Look Alikes

Janie at 3 months

Blake at 2.5 months

Ty reminds me a lot of Blake and Janie when they were babies.  I don't think they look exactly alike but some similarities:  white, chubby, round, cheeks.

Race

I ran a 10K this morning with my friends Lindsey and Leah.  It started downtown St. Joseph and went along the lake at one point.  The weather was great.  On the last stretch I saw Eric and my kids clapping and cheering for me.  We made it under 10 minute miles.  Earlier this week Blake was telling me how he wanted me to win the race.  I told him that I wasn't that fast.  He asked if I have seen him run outside in the backyard and then told me to just run as fast as him and then I'd win.

Preschool

Blake started preschool and he loves it.  And lets be honest--so do I.  He goes MWF from 12:15 to 3:00.  The first day he was a little nervous and told me he wanted me to stay.  I stayed for about 5 minutes while the aide read him a book.  After a minute he started asking her question after question about the story and I smiled.  He jumped up to grab another book so I gave him a hug and left.

It was nice to spend some time with Janie and we had to paint her nails.  She loves nailpolish and it might be a higher bribe than food which is saying something.  I also got a lot of cleaning done while Blake was gone.  Janie played quietly in her room for a long time.  She doesn't really do that when Blake is here because they are either playing hyper silly together or fighting and crying.  The peace was nice.

I love that Blake is learning and having good social interactions.  He told me he played with some friends there.  I love hearing about what he did at school.  The crazy part is loading 3 kids in the car, driving two minutes, unloading kids, walking Blake to his class, reloading 2 kids, unloading kids 2 minutes later at home.  And then doing that all over again to pick up him.  Exhausting!

Apron

Here is the paper apron Blake made so he can help me cook in the kitchen and not get dirty.
